More Parking Places Available Due to Removal of Out-of-use Cars
On January 13th, 2010 the statistics shows that during the last two years 697 parking places in the downtown and quarters of Burgas became available due to removal of parked out-of-use cars. The initiative started in 2008 at an order of mayor Dimitar Nikolov. Muincipal administration received significant support by local media and citizens, who alarmed about old and even decaying cars parked on the streets and parking lots in town. By now 966 cases of out-of-use cars have been ascertained and records have been issued for all of them. 558 cars were moved by their owners. 139 orders for compulsory removal of vehicles were issued. 24 Projects to Compete in the Municipal Contest for Creating of Memorial of Petya Doubarova
Today, January 14th the selection process of a project for a memorial of poetess Petya Doubarova starts. This was announced during a press conference, held in “Petko Zadgorski” art gallery, where all the 24 competing projects are exhibited. Municipality Demolishes Roma Bivouac in “Slaveykov”
Municipality of Burgas started to demolish about 20 sheds, tents and other kind of shelters of Roma, who have illegally settled in the suburbs of “Slaveykov”. They were situated parallel with the railway, on the territory of the ex-vegetable market. Five sheds were demolished today. Residents of other shelters are given time to take their possessions out of the sheds and leave the place by tomorrow, January 15th, when the excavators will be back for further actions.
