Municipality Wants a Loan of BGN 10 Million to Boost Its Budget
A loan of BGN 10 million is envisaged in 2010 budget of the Municipality of Burgas. During its next session the local parliament will say its word about that and the budget as a whole. The loan is meant to fund major infrastructure projects. Among them are the extension of “Yanko Komitov” street and the reconstruction of “Mesta”, “Hristo Botev”, “Aleksandar Veliki”, “Kaloyan” and “Gladston” streets, implementation of a new system for parking management, construction of new lighting in several parts of the town, construction of a new parking and drain pipes in Gorno ezerovo. New Facilities in “Nikola Stanchev” Sports Hall
New facilities were installed in “Nikola Stanchev” sports hall. They are to the value of BGN 50 000 and were bought by the Municipality. Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, his deputy Krassimir Stoychev and director of municipal enterprise “Sports properties, parking lots and garages” Zhivko Ivanov checked the quality of the new facilities. The new sports facilities include baskets, sports accessories for volleyball, tennis, handball and mini soccer. “Nikola Stanchev” sports hall is always full. Prolonging of its working time is planned.

The eighth edition of “Sofia Film Fest by the Sea” will be held March 11-19, 2010. It became clear today, February 2nd, during a press conference with the participation of deputy mayor Yordanka Ananieva, Yordanka Ingilizova – representative of “Sofia Film Fest” for Burgas, prof. Georgi Dyulgerov – art director of the festival and Borislav Chakrinov – director of “Adreana Budevska” theatre. In this year’s edition of the event 20 films will be presented. The traditional short films programme of Jameson is also included. The screenings will be in “Trakia” cinema. All Bulgarian films will be presented by their authors. Bulgarovo Commemorates Victims in the Massacre that Happened 132 Years Ago
In 1878, on the 4th of February, two days before the liberation of Burgas, the army troop of colonel Lermontov entered Bulgarovo and found 400 victims of a massacre – Bulgarians and Greeks. Only one boy survived and he later told about the tragedy, known as “the second Batak’s massacre”. Piles of human bones were found in the church of the town during construction works in 1997. Traditionally Bulgarovo every year commemorates the memory of the victims, whose bones are now kept in an ossuary. On the 5th of February, at 10 a.m. children from the local school and kindergarten, public figures and residents of Bulgarovo will gather in the yard of the church to lay flowers.
