Dear Citizens of Burgas, Happy Liberation!

Every year Burgas celebrates the day of its liberation, sometimes splendidly, sometimes modestly. The more important is that it is celebrated and thus the memory of it will be preserved. The liberation of Burgas happened on the 6th of February 1878, when Russian troops entered the town. They were welcomed by the first mayor of Burgas Niko Popov. Today, 132 years later on the same place is the so called Russian monument. The 60th mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov paid tribute to the victims in the war for  the Liberation. Regional governor Konstantin Grebenarov, commander of the Navy of Burgas Georgi Motev, Russian consul in Varna Yurii Solovyov, honorary consul of Russia in Burgas Tobko Fotev, deputies, municipal councilors, representatives…
