“Lyuben Karavelov” Community Centre Celebrates Its 70th Anniversary

This year “Lyuben Karavelov” community centre of Burgas celebrates its 70th anniversary. On that occasion  there will be series of events. They start on the 1st of March with an Open Doors day. At 12.30 h citizens are invited to be part of a fairytale, made of yarn and wool. There will be a special hour for children in the library. At 13 h several exhibitions will be opened: one showing drawings and martenitsi, prepared by children from “St Knyaz Boris” school and another, showing posters from events of the centre. The Straglers’ Participation in Spirit of Burgas 2010 Confirmed

It is high time to chase winter and boredom away with some hot news about the biggest summer party here! On the 13th, 14th and 15th of August the third edition of Spirit of Burgas music festival will be held. It will be on the same place as the previous two years – the central beach of Burgas. The first news about the festival concern fans of Brit hard punk-rock band the Stranglers / www.stranglers.net/. They will perform in Burgas on the 14th of August. Vaya Lake and Akatsiite No Longer Connected

By order of mayor Dimitar Nikolov during the weekend a canal was digged, so that subsoil waters of “Akatsiite” drain away into the urban sewage system. The residential quarter of “Akatsiite” is very close to the lake of Vaya. Only E-87 ring-road is dividing them.  Rain and snow showers in February caused enormous increase of Vaya lake’s water level and subsoil waters came up and flooded “Akatsiite” and the roadway of E-87. After the action during the weekend, E-87 is finally dry and safe.  There are no floods anymore. The road to Gorno Ezerovo is open again. Gravel was laid, so that its roadability improves.  

Construction Materials in Aid of Citizens Affected by the Floods

Residents of Dolno Ezerovo and Lozovo received today new home appliances as a compensation for the damages, caused by the floods in February. The financial resources were provided by the state programme for “Managing the Consequences of Calamities and Disasters”. The Municipality managed to prepare the necessary documentation, that proves the need of such aid for a very short time. Residents of the two residential quarters, mostly affected by the floods hope for some more assistance for the recovery of their damaged homes. For that purpose the Municipality of Burgas together with Protection of the Population service and independent experts prepared reports, describing the damages of the properties of 51 people.
