“The Foundations of Bulgarian Parliamentarism” to Be Exposed in Burgas

A documentary exhibition, titled “The Foundations of Bulgarian Parliamentarism” will be exposed in Burgas. It will be opened tomorrow, February 10th at 18 h in the Regional library “P.K.Yavorov”. The occasion is the 131st anniversary since the summoning of the constituent assembly and passing of the first Bulgarian constitution in 1879. 

25 panels with documents tell about the preparation of the constituent assembly, first Bulgarian deputies and the contribution of Russia for the foundation of Bulgarian parliamentarism – the role of prince Vladimir Cherkarski, prince Alexander Dondukov-Korsakov, Sergei Lukianov and developed by him draft statute.

Reports from the constituent assembly, photos of the constitution and abstracts from it will be exposed.

Special place will be given to the state symbols – national emblem, state seal and how they changed through the years.

The original copies of the documents, that will be exposed, are kept in the Parliament, the Council of Ministers, Ministry of International Affairs and personal archives. Prints and maps from the unique collection of doctor Simeon Simov will be exposed as also copies of documents from the record offices of Russia, France, Austria, Hungary and Germany.

Organisers of the exhibition are the Municipality of Burgas, Public Record Office and the Regional Record Office  of Burgas.
