Deputy mayor of education Yordanka Ananieva received an award by the Union of Bulgarian teachers for the excellent social partnership between teachers and the municipality. She received a crystal plate and an  honorary diploma for her personal contribution. The nomination was made by the executive committee of the Union of the Bulgarian teachers.

Yordanka Ananieva received the prize personally by the chairman of the Union Yanka Takeva on an official ceremony, held in “Ivan Vazov” national theatre. On the ceremony, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Teachers’ Union, were invited the president of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov, ministers, deputies and mayors.

During the previous 2009 mayor Dimitar Nikolov received “Best Social Partner” prize, bestowed by the European Commission of Education and the Union of Bulgarian Teachers. He was the first Bulgarian mayor, who signed a common labour contract in the field of education and introduced delegated budgets at schools and kindergartens.

The Municipality of Burgas did not close any school and kept the jobs of all teachers during the last two years. During the previous year over BGN 2 million from municipal budget were spent for reconstruction of educational institutions and construction of new kindergartens.
