The deadline for participation in the "Whoever saves a human life, saves a whole universe" competition is expiring
Over 120 participants sent in their works for the literary competition the "Whoever saves a human life, saves a whole universe". Five days before the deadline the participants in the sixth edition of the literary competition, organized by the center for European-Bulgarian cooperation "Alef", the participants are now over 120. This year it is themed "To love, even though ..." and by now there are students from over 34 settlements and students from over eight universities that have sent in their works. The nominees in both categories will be announced in "Alef"'s website - http://alef-bg.org around the midpoint of April. The names of all participants has already been listed on their website. On March 25th, Monday, because of the 85th anniversary of Hristo Fotev's birth, at 12PM by his monument in the Sea Garden, his friends and admirers will lay flowers while his works are read. From 18.00 on Tuesday, March 26, at the puppet theater, some unknown poems by Fotev will be presented by the themed evening show "You Go and Come Back to Bourgas" .The poet Nedyalko Yordanov, the poetess Venda Raikova, the actor Plamen Karov and the journalist Georgi Raikov will also take part.
Congratulations to Burgas's very own Plamen Korsev! He was part of the Bulgarian National Team, which took part in the World Summer "Special Olympics" Games. 18 competitors were sent to Abu Dhabi, who won 4 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals. 17 year-old Plamen managed to win one bronze medal in the long jump track and field event. In addition, he also placed 8th in the 100 - metre sprint and 5th in the 4x100 metre relay race. His coach is Liubomira Krumova Sakalieva - a P.E. teacher from "Dobri Chintulov". The Municipality of Bourgas financially assists the annual participation of our Bulgarian sports representatives in the Summer "Special Olympic" Games.
