The 22-year-old student Angel Stoychev took out the Epiphany Cross in Burgas. The ritual took place on the site of the Bridge, and it included a record number of 62 participants. The oldest was 46 years old and the youngest was 16.
Angel, who is from Burgas, participates for the sixth consecutive year in saving the Cross. However, he is doing it for the first time in his city and that brings him luck. After leaving the sea, he wished for himself and all the citizens of Burgas health and many successes during the year.
The good weather gave many people the opportunity to gather on the beach, the terrace of the Casino and the alleys of the Sea Garden to watch the rescue of the Cross.
The celebrations for the Epiphany began early in the morning with a Festive Holy Liturgy in the cathedral church "St. Cyril and Methodius ”, led by the Bishop of Agathopolis Hierotheus.
According to an old tradition, the Orthodox clergy consecrated the battle flags of the units of the Burgas garrison. The events dedicated to the Epiphany included Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, the new regional governor Stoyko Tankov, his predecessor Prof. Maria Neykova, the chairman of the Municipal Council Prof. Sevdalina Turmanova and other representatives of local and state authorities.
