With a rich program but in strict compliance with anti-epidemic measures, Balgarovo honors the memory of those who have fallen for the liberation of the city from the Ottomans’ grasp. The celebrations started with a requiescat in memory of the hundreds orthodox christians killed in the temple “St. Atanasyi” in the onetime village Urum Enikyoi. It was carried out by father Zaharyi Dechev. After the service father Zaharyi Dechev told everyone about the dramatic events in which over 400 innocent children, women and men had died.
