The project “Icons from Strandzha and the region of Burgas” was approved for full funding by the Ministry of Culture. The main goal of the project is for the gallery to present a part of its rich collection of icons in a bilingual album to the large audience. These samples were collected in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century from abandoned and half-destroyed places of worship in the region and preserved in the Burgas Art Gallery. In the chosen church images the influence of various icon painting styles and schools can be tracked.
The project is funded by the Program for funding of projects in the area of movable cultural heritage, museums and visual art.
