With the laying of flowers, Burgas commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Bulgarian actor Georgi Kaloyanchev, who would have turned 100 today. The ceremony took place at the actor's monument in the Sea Garden, near the Summer Theatre. The event was attended by Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, Deputy Mayor Diana Savateva, Chairman of the Municipal Council Mihail Hadzhianev, President of the Union of Bulgarian Artists Hristo Mutafchiev, and others.

"Burgas has always been a city where famous artists and talents have been born. Seeing you, young people, I am convinced that the same success awaits you, and I wish it to you. And to the people of Burgas, as you pass by the monument to Georgi Kaloyanchev, stop for a moment in front of it and remember this talent," said Dimitar Nikolov during the ceremony.

Georgi Kaloyanchev, or as colleagues and friends called him – Kalata, with his bright roles in theater, cinema, and television, became a beloved figure among the public. He was a member of the National Theatre troupe and one of the founders of the Satirical Theatre. He always carried his hometown of Burgas in his heart and often said: "Burgas is my favorite city. I grew up here, I fell in love with art here, and especially with theater."
