Burgas people with disabilities delighted their fellow citizens by showcasing their sports and artistic talents. The occasion was December 3 – International Day of People with Disabilities.
Users of social services in the city opened an art exhibition featuring paintings by elderly residents from the Anka and Tsveta Vurbanovi Home for the Elderly, a creative workshop by the PK Port Burgas with chairperson Stoya Yancheva, and a charity market in the foyer of the NHK Cultural Center.
Participants in the charity market included the Day Center for Children and/or Adults with Severe Multiple Disabilities in Primorski Park, the Day Center for Children with Disabilities "St. Nicholas the Wonderworker", the Sheltered Housing for People with Mental Disorders, the Social Rehabilitation and Integration Center for People with Mental Disorders, the Day Center for Adults with Disabilities, Sheltered Housing for People with Mental Disorders, the Social Rehabilitation and Integration Center at the "Social Center Burgas" Association, the Community Support Center, and the Family-Type Accommodation Center for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.
During the market and exhibition at the NHK Cultural Center, all participants and guests were greeted with dances, songs, and poems performed by young people from Family-Type Accommodation Centers for Children and Young People with Disabilities 4 and 5 in the "Vetren" neighborhood, the Social Rehabilitation and Integration Center, and the Family-Type Accommodation Center for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.
Immediately after the market, a football skills demonstration was held at Troika Square by the young people from the Family-Type Accommodation Centers for Children and Young People with Disabilities 3, 4, and 5.
The dance performance "Horo Se Vie I Shiri" brought much joy to the residents of Burgas at Troika Square. It included performances by the "Mladost" bagpipe orchestra from the CPLR, the Thracian dance, performed by young people from Roncaly Residential Care for Children at Risk, the "Recreational Therapy - Theater and Singing" group from the Social Rehabilitation and Integration Center for People with Visual Disabilities, students from Dobri Chintulov High School, youth from the Family-Type Accommodation Center for Children and Young People without Disabilities 1, the "Strandzhanska Ogrlica" group from PK Port Burgas, users from the Day Center for Adults with Severe Multiple Disabilities, and the "Teachers and Friends in Spirit" Association.
All participants were congratulated and awarded certificates of appreciation by the Deputy Mayor for Education, Healthcare, Social Affairs, and Youth Policies of Burgas, Mihail Nenov, for their outstanding performances.
The Municipality of Burgas' extensive program for International Day of People with Disabilities will continue with a musical program at the Day Center for Children with Disabilities "St. Nicholas the Wonderworker" and a concert of songs and dances starting at 4:30 PM at the Youth Cultural Center.
