Burgas is launching an initiative to set up a Black Sea Science and Technology Center

On 30 October 2018 in Burgas, the Cultural Center "Sea Casino", "Georgi Baev" Hall, from 13:00, under the patronage of the regional governor Valcho Cholakov, a round table on "Common agenda for the Black Sea "The Bourgas Declaration" dedicated to the International Black Sea Day. The event is organized by the Regional Administration - Bourgas, Burgas Municipality and Black Sea Institute. The round table has the ambition to bring together representatives of central and local authorities, institutions, the business and civil sector, researchers, people related to the sea in a debate on the aspects of integrated maritime policy. The initiative to set up a Black Sea Science and Technology Center will be launched during the event. The acute need to set up such a center on the territory of the Burgas District has once again revealed the Mopang case when it was necessary to use laboratories in the capital and other cities. During the conference Deputy Governor Prof. Sevdalina Tourmanova will present the participants with details about the idea of ​​creating the center.

On October 31, 16 million people from 6 countries celebrate International Black Sea Day. For these six states, the sea is a mirror of the World Ocean with its full potential and challenges. Care for it is part of the national connectivity and security policies, part of the region's effort for continuous and inclusive growth, a key component of urban quality improvement programs. On May 31, 2018, during the 11th edition of the European Maritime Day in Burgas, representatives of the Black Sea countries approved a Declaration on the Common Maritime Day for the Black Sea (Bourgas Declaration), which again put the focus on cooperation in the Black Sea region to create a common maritime program with specific priorities and actions in the areas of transport connectivity, maritime and coastal tourism, maritime education and training, marine research and innovation, marine investment, marine protection, monitoring and moni- toring ring the environment.

The conference will be attended by the governor Valcho Cholakov, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Burgas Ruska Boyadzhieva, the Chair of the Environment Committee at the 44th National Assembly - Ivelina Vassileva, Dr. Lausana Vassileva - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Valentin Engin Yovev - Deputy Minister MRDPW, Director of the Basin Directorate "Black Sea Region" - Desislava Konsulova.
