The first football tournament of the European Football Week, part of the Special Olympics, was held in Burgas. Five teams of children with and without intellectual disabilities took part in the Sports day.

The Bulgarian athlete Plamen Korsov, who won 3rd place in the long jump at the 2019 Abu Dhabi World Games of the Special Olympics, was a special guest at the event.

In the football ranking the first place was won by the team of Cyril and Methodius School Burgas, the second by the United team of The Resource Centre Burgas and Vasil Levski School G. Ezerovo, and the third place was conquered by the Cyril and Methodius Secondary School Karnobat, while the dodgeball winner was Cyril and Methodius Secondary School Burgas.

The dodgeball players were given brand new ball thanks to the National Dodgeball Federation.

The focus of this year's event is the development of the women's football, supported by the European Union's Erasmus+ Program.

The general aim of the regional sports days is to teach tolerance among the youngsters and motivate the school institutions to offer more opportunities for the children to play together.

The regional sports days in 2019 are part of the TO BE TOGETHER campaign, supporting the Bulgarian participation in the World Summer Games at the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi in March 2019. Everything about the campaign can be found at WWW.FAN.BG.
