Two projects from the Municipality of Burgas are competing for the prestigious "Building of the Year" 2024 awards. These are the restoration of the "St. Cyril and Methodius" Church and the "Fisherman's Stories" children's playground in the cultural and tourist complex "Chengene Skele."
The restoration of the Burgas church is nominated in the category "Projects related to the development of cities." The restoration of the facade is a true technological, organizational, and sculptural challenge of the highest order.
Although the restoration task was initially planned as a construction project, it has become primarily an artistic one, on a scale that has not been achieved in Bulgaria before. Also competing in the same category is the children's playground built in the "Chengene Skele" cultural and tourist complex.
"Fisherman's Stories" is an educational children's playground focused on promoting the fishing craft and raising awareness on topics such as ecology, environmental protection, water, and the flora and fauna of the Black Sea.
It includes different types of zones: a square area with seating and educational materials, a sensory section (including water play and a sensory path), a playground for children aged 0-3, and play areas for children aged 3-7 and 3-12 years.

The "Building of the Year" 2024 competition is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and is one of the most popular and prestigious events in the field of investment projects, construction, and architecture. It is organized by the GRAAD Media Group.
