The divers from the "Friends of the Sea" Club in Burgas are issuing another extreme challenge to the residents and guests of the seaside city. On St. Nicholas Day (Nikulden), they will dive at the Bridge wearing a retro diving suit used for underwater work in the 1960s.
The equipment is heavy and consists of a metal helmet and a heavy suit. The diver receives air through a hose from the surface of the water. Communication with the team above water is done via radio, and the signal is transmitted through a cable.
In addition to demonstrating how the retro equipment is used, the divers will give anyone interested the chance to dive with it. However, participants must have a diving certification, and there will be a briefing before they enter the water. At the moment, six enthusiasts have expressed their interest in taking part in the extreme challenge.
The "Friends of the Sea" Club has been organizing this initiative for several years. The event is part of the program celebrating the holiday of Burgas – Nikulen Day. The dive is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM, provided the conditions are suitable.
