Competition for creative writing in English is being organized by PPMG “Acad. N. Obreshkov”. The initiative is of the Methodical Association of English and is part of a rich and diverse program dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the elite school. Those wishing to participate in the competition must write a short story (not more than 800 words) in a style and genre of their choice, including the following quotations in their work:
But to go to school in a summer morn,
O! It drives all joy away;
Under a cruel eye outworn,
The little ones spend the day
In sighing and dismay. (William Blake, “The Schoolboy” from Songs of Experience)
“O teach me how I should forget to think” (William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, Act 1, Scene 1)
“Language is a virus from outer space.” William S. Burroughs
“Only the educated are free.” Epictetus
The works can be sent to the email: [email protected] and should be accompanied by three names, age, class, school, phone for contact.
