Nearly 3 tons of fish will be used to prepare the traditional St. Nicholas Day (Nikulden) fish soup, which will be distributed in Burgas this Friday.

The cooks will be teams from the Home Social Patronage – Burgas, the central kitchen "Alaminut" at "Burgaski Pazar", and a team from the Naval Base – Atyia, who will traditionally prepare the fish soup for the residents and guests of Burgas on St. Nicholas Day itself.

A total of 3,500 portions of fish soup and 9,000 portions of fish will be distributed at five main points in the city.

At the Clock Tower (Chasovnika), the soup will be served starting from 11:30 AM, after it has been blessed by His Eminence, the Bishop of Sliven, Arseniy. The distribution will also begin at 11:30 AM at the residential area "Meden Rudnik," specifically at a park area between blocks 46 and 51.

At 11:00 AM, the distribution will start at points in "Veleka" Park in the "Izgrev" residential area and in the neighborhood of Kraimorie.

At 1:00 PM, the soup will be served at the cultural and tourist complex "Chengene Skele."

Almost all neighborhoods and village settlements will also receive portions of grilled fish and fish soup. The distribution in these areas will be organized by the mayors’ deputies.

As a tradition, the users of the Home Social Patronage – Burgas will also receive free portions of fish soup and grilled fish on St. Nicholas Day.

Once again, fish companies in Burgas helped make the St. Nicholas Day fish soup possible by donating some of the necessary fish. Special thanks to SD "Ding – Pavlov and Co.," the Bulgarian Fisheries and Aquaculture Agency (IARA), the "Lebed – 1898" Hunters and Fishermen Association, "Black Sea Fishing – Burgas" AD, and "Atlantic" LTD.
