"We are unveiling new horizons in intercultural exchange between Burgas and Austria. Together, we have a history of significant joint initiatives with a broad impact in the fields of music, fine arts, and visual arts. And now, literature joins this list," stated H.E. Mrs. Andrea Ikić-Böhm, Ambassador of Austria to Bulgaria, during the inauguration of the Austrian section at the Library. Her Excellency symbolically cut the ribbon of the specially designated area alongside the director of the "Peyo Yavorov" Regional Library, Yana Karsheyska, and Honorary Consul Associate Professor Dr. Radostina Ivanova-Mishineva.
"First and foremost, I would like to extend congratulations on behalf of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov. It is an extremely positive step that Burgas now has a center for disseminating Austrian scientific and artistic thought," said Deputy Mayor for Education, Healthcare, Social Activities, and Youth Policies, Mihail Nenov.
The event was also attended by Regional Governor Professor Dr. Maria Neykova and Deputy Mayor for Culture and Religious Affairs, Diana Savateva.
The Austrian section offers a rich variety of artistic and scientific literature, contemporary authors, and classic works in their original form.
The books have been provided with the support of Austria’s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, the Institute for the Danube Region, and Bulgarian libraries.
Attendees had the pleasure of enjoying an exquisite performance by the percussion duo Agleya Kaneva and Alexander Vichev.
The event also featured participation by students from NEG "Goethe."
