We are glad to announce that Burgas Municipality has joined as a partner in the implementation of the #AI4PublicPolicy project #eufunded under the Horizon 2020 Program, #H2020.
The project activities are divided between 15 different partners from different countries (Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, Cyprus, etc.). Among the partners, there are private companies, universities, and other municipalities. The aim is to create an innovative virtual platform for the analysis of urban data which, with the aid of new #research into #AI, can make urban planning and policy making more streamlined and with more input from the citizens.
The project activities envision the creation of a marketplace platform that will parlay cutting edge #AIresearch into solutions, best practices, and #innovation to businesses and governments. It will also be integrated with the European Science Cloud (EOSC). #egovernment
Burgas Municipality will participate with a pilot projected oriented towards the use of AI in order to formulate the policies of the municipality related to an improvement in the water supply infrastructure and services within the municipality. To achieve this, it will cooperate with the local Water Utility Company and the Italian company EKSO, Srl, a leader into the use of rehabilitation and repair of pipes and pipelines through trenchless technologies, which offer several advantages compared to the traditional methods by eliminating costly and time-consuming excavations, reducing the discomfort of service interruption, etc.
EKSO S.r.l will also share their expertise as a developer of “smart” pipes that can be monitored remotely through fiber optic sensing technologies. It is with these “smart “pipes that data will be collected and used by the AI tools for the optimization of the activities of the Water Utility Company, a reduction of the number of leakages, and more efficient repair works. This will improve the quality of the services of the company while keeping the prices affordable.
