Monk Avel's journey to the start of his public music career is particularly intriguing. For years, he was part of the monastic brotherhood at the Dochiariou Monastery on Mount Athos. While fulfilling his monastic duties, he had access to an old piano where he could develop his musical talent. Initially, he played in his free time between long hours of worship, his personal prayer rule, and his labor in service to the monastery. However, the abbot of Dochiariou, the late Elder Gregory (Zumis), personally gave him his blessing to perform live concerts worldwide and share his music on the internet.
