The event, scheduled for January 24 (Friday) at 6:00 PM in the "Georgi Baev" Hall of the Cultural Center "Sea Casino," is aptly titled "The Sea Meets the Mountain." On this occasion, Stefan Diomov, the author of the most beloved songs about the sea, and the soloists of the "Mountain Song" Choir from Sofia will welcome guests to share stories of their travels and sing about them.

The composer will present his book "The White and Black Keys of My Life," specifically the section recounting his journeys around the world. Meanwhile, the choir will showcase songs from their repertoire to the Burgas audience under the baton of their chief artistic director, Ivan Hristov.

The "Mountain Song" Choir was founded in 1959 as a choir dedicated to performing and popularizing hiking songs. The idea for its creation came from renowned musicians Raicho Angelov and Filip Avramov. Filip Avramov served not only as a conductor but also as the composer of many of the songs still performed by the choir today.

The popular hiking song is a new genre characterized by natural and easily memorable melodies. These cheerful songs are sung in the mountains, at mountain lodges, and during festivals. The lyrics express enthusiasm, reverence for nature, and love for humanity.

The "Mountain Song" Choir quickly gained fame both in Bulgaria and abroad. Filip Avramov went on to conduct several ensembles and helped establish choirs in more than 70 towns. He devoted three decades to hiking songs and received numerous awards, including being named an honorary citizen of Sofia, Dresden, and Ingolstadt. He passed away in 1997 after a tour in Germany.

Even today, the choir continues to sing his songs, participate in festivals, and perform concerts. Every April, it celebrates its anniversary with a public performance. For over twenty years, Lili Mircheva has been the choir's accompanist, and maestro Ivan Hristov serves as the conductor. The choir survives thanks to the patronage of Kalin Balkanski, one of the group’s outstanding tenors.

We invite the people of Burgas to join us on January 24 to sing together, including sea-inspired songs by composer Stefan Diomov.

The event is organized with the support of the Municipality of Burgas and the publishing house "Znatsi." Admission is free.
