
In the Independence Day hundreds of citizens and guests of Burgas sang together the national anthem of Bulgaria. The unique event was preceded by a live performance of the anthems of all member states of the European Union. This was the final part and culmination of the Summer Tour that supports the candidacy of Burgas for European Capital of Culture, which passed in all 13 cities in Burgas area for nearly three months. Schools, kindergartens, senior clubs, community centers and many citizens became part of today's unique event for Bulgaria. Burgas choir "Rodna pesen" /"Home Song"/ with conductor Levon Manuhyan had the main role in the event.
Earlier today, on the square in front of the Municipality was led service for the welfare of Independent Bulgaria and a ritual of raising the national flag and the flags of EU and Burgas Municipality. Wreaths and flowers were laid at the Monument of the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment in memory of those who died to protect the Bulgarian independence.
